Mr. James Swynford

James Swynford graduated from the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in Government. Soon after college, he worked on Capitol Hill and then got his first taste of middle school teaching at Trinity Christian School in Fairfax, VA. He served on staff for a year with an Anglican church in England before completing a Master of Divinity at Trinity Anglican School for Ministry in Pittsburgh. An ordained Anglican priest, James first served at The Falls Church in Northern Virginia, then planted a congregation with his wife in Williamsburg, VA. He then worked to start a parish in Philadelphia (they moved there right in time for the Covid lockdown, who knew?!). Last year he taught 7th and 8th grade Humanities at Elijah House Academy. He considers his wife, Anna, God's richest gift to him, and their four children (all at Hunter) the gifts that keep on giving! James especially delights in teaching for its formational forum, attempting to bridge ideas and imagination into character and habits. James savors time with the family, reading history and poetry, listening to (and dancing to) music, and exploring lovely Richmond and other locales.
