Mrs. Kathleen “Kat” Cornett earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, with a K–8 certification, from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Soon after graduation, Kat and her husband, Gene, moved to Texas, where she taught at both a private Christian school and a public school. During their time in Texas, their first child was born. As their family grew, Kat homeschooled their children and later began substitute teaching when her older children entered high school. Their family then sensed a calling to adopt and was blessed to bring home their third child in 2008.

Kat began substituting for the Christian school their daughter attended. In 2020, she began teaching third grade at Hunter, where she discovered her love for and calling to classical Christian education. After a brief time away from Hunter, Kat is excited to return to the classroom as a sixth-grade teacher. Kat loves spending time with Gene, their children, and their grandchildren. She also enjoys reading about U.S. history, especially World War II stories.
